- Safe Facilities that Minimize Pathways and Potential Contact of Lead for Shooters and Workers
(commitment and written Program to implement BMPs) - Access Control and Signs for Range Users ID Pb Risks and Hygiene procedures including:
hand washing, track-out (sticky floor mats) - Restricted Eating and Drinking and Smoking
- HVAC Systems and HEPA Filters
2. Contain Lead in Bullet Traps (various configurations)
- Drums
- Steel Traps
- Buckets
- Granulated Rubber
3. Perform Regular Trap and Range Cleanings
- Remove Bullets from Traps and Recycle
- Vacuum Dust from Surfaces (floors, walls, traps, tiles, shooting areas)
- Change HVAC Filters
4. Range Maintenance Workers Safety Training and Safety Programs
- Corporate Health and Safety Program including lead compliance
- 40-hr HAZWOPER training, Respirator Fit Testing, Medical Monitoring
- OSHA Compliance Audits & Reviews
5. Contain and Control Lead Dust (in Air) During Range Maintenance Work
- Containment of Work Area with Plastic Sheeting
- Contain Wastes in Plastic Bags in drums (filters, wipes, gloves/PPE)
- Negative Air Flow (into work area)
- Utilize Range/Building HVAC, HEPA Filters

Stewardship Plan (ESP) and Outdoor Firing Range Maintenance - Access Control and Signs for Range Users ID Pb Risks and
Hygiene procedures including: hand washing, mats, etc. - Restricted Eating and Drinking and Smoking
2. Contain Lead in Industry Standard Range Fields, Berms or Bullet
Traps
- NRA Range Source Book
- MT2 Range Assessments
- Other (Berm height, away from water, recoverable media, coverings)
3. Perform Regular Range Cleanings
- Remove Lead Bullets and Shot from Berms, Traps, Range Floors
- Recycle to Licensed facility
- Regular Reclamation
4. Range Maintenance Workers Safety Training and Safety Programs
