Turnkey Remediation for Residential Redevelopment
SunCor Development, AZ
Overview
MT2 was contracted by SunCor, a subsidiary of Pinnacle West, to perform turnkey site remediation management services and shooting range cleanup in order to achieve rapid site closure and remediation to residential standards of a 17-acre site containing lead and PAH contaminated soils exceeding RCRA TCLP levels.
MT2 Services
MT2 performed all remedial action services and interfaced with the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality to obtain all plan approvals. A total of 70,000 tons of soil was treated in-situ with ECOBOND® in order to meet RCRA disposal requirements and prevent generation of any hazardous wastes. Treated and PAH impacted soils were excavated and transported to the landfill for disposal as non-hazardous waste.
Outcome
MT2 completed all field activities, site sampling and analysis, and reporting, which allowed SunCor to receive a “No Further Action” letter from the state of Arizona to allow residential reuse of the land. MT2’s turnkey approach provided a substantial cost savings over traditional approaches.
Brownfields Remediation for Mixed Use Redevelopment
Smarthouse Redevelopment Site, AR
Overview
MT2 was contracted by the Main Street Argenta, Inc. (City of North Little Rock, Arkansas) to provide comprehensive soil remediation services at the Brownfield’s Smarthouse Redevelopment site to meet mixed use residential standards.
MT2 Services
The site contained elevated lead and arsenic metals concentrations, PAHs and PCBs. MT2 performed soil remediation utilizing proprietary ECOBOND® treatment technologies to successfully treat impacted soils containing lead, arsenic and PCBs to RCRA non-hazardous levels. Soils identified as containing PAHs were excavated and disposed.
Outcome
MT2’s efforts provided substantial cost savings and allowed residential reuse of the land for the City of North Little Rock.
Large Brownfields Remediation Land Development
Tempe Marketplace, AZ
Overview
MT2 was contracted by the Developer and Brown and Caldwell to perform comprehensive lead contaminated soil remediation at the site of the Tempe Marketplace Brownfields Redevelopment property. Tempe Marketplace is the site of the largest Brownfields environmental cleanup in Arizona’s history.
MT2 Services
MT2 was contracted to perform turnkey soil remediation to meet all regulatory requirements. The TCLP lead concentrations ranged from non-detect up to a maximum of 103 mg/l. Contaminated soil was treated on the surface and, using specialty proprietary methods, to a depth of 24 feet. MT2 performed in-situ treatment, confirmation testing, and replacement of soils reduced to nonhazardous levels. Approximately 30,000 cyds of soils were treated and retained in place.
Outcome
MT2 performed two major remediation projects at the site of Tempe Marketplace, performing lead soil treatment that provided savings of nearly $1,000,000 as compared to traditional approaches. MT2 maintained stringent air quality controls.
Municipal Government Former Landfill Remediation
Rockland County Landfill, NY
Overview
MT2 was contracted by Rockland County, New York to perform site closure and remediation of a former firing range site containing lead contaminated soil for redevelopment as a leaf composting facility.
MT2 Services
MT2 provided firing range remediation services including onsite lead reclamation and treatment of soil with elevated lead and associated metals. Lead contaminated soils were processed and treated utilizing MT2’s patented ECOBOND® lead remediation technology. Treated soils were sampled to verify that RCRA TCLP levels of 5.0 mg/L treatment levels were achieved.
Outcome
MT2’s patented ECOBOND® technology and processes provided estimated client savings of $40,000. The successful completion of this project allowed the property to be converted to a new use as a leaf compost facility.
US EPA Arsenic Contaminated Soil Remediation
Arsenic Contaminated Site, CO
Overview
MT2 was contracted through directive of US EPA Region 8 to remediate arsenic to mitigate concerns for groundwater and surface water impacts.
MT2 Services
MT2 conducted a treatability study using site samples and developed an effective treatment method utilizing ECOBOND® technology. MT2 worked around active production buildings with minimal impact to ongoing site activities and without significant schedule impact to employees of the Industrial Park. Over 3,300 tons of arsenic contaminated soil was treated in-situ to below RCRA levels allowing for non-hazardous disposal saving $500,000.
Outcome
US EPA completed this removal action allowing the Industrial Park to continue operations without further impacts.
