The three day camp is part of their Veterans Adaptive Sports & Training Program (VAST). Training sessions were held Friday and Saturday followed by a 4k biathlon relay on Sunday.
The adaptive sports program, which was started in May 2012, operates one morning per week, for 40 weeks a year. According to program director Sgt. Kristina Sabasteanski, VAST serves about 150 veterans a year, with roughly 75% of participants having service related injuries. Sabasteanski, 10-year U.S. Army veteran herself, competed in the 1998 and 2002 Olympics in the biathlon.
