Lead Based Paint Remediation for Demolition

Outcome

Application of ECOBOND® LBP allowed the building debris to be disposed of as a non-RCRA hazardous waste; producing an estimated savings of $500,000.

Overview

MT2 was contracted by the Fort Ord Reuse Authority to perform lead based paint remediation utilizing ECOBOND® LBP to convert building materials coated with lead based paint into non-hazardous waste.

MT2 Services

ECOBOND® LBP was utilized in full-scale application on twenty buildings undergoing demolition and waste disposal at a California BRAC facility. ECOBOND® LBP provided ease of application utilizing standard industrial paint sprayers; additionally, application of ECOBOND® LBP reduced lead hazards associated with lead based paint and lead dust by up to 99%. The project was completed with the oversight of the federal, state of California and local regulatory agencies.

Lead Based Paint Contaminated Soil Remediation

Devils Thumb Water Tank, CO

Outcome

The lead contaminated soil was readily treated to below RCRA TCLP Pb of <5.0mg/L limits with MT2 proprietary ECOBOND® lead treatment technology.

Overview

MT2 was contracted by the City of Boulder, CO to perform lead based paint contaminated soil stabilization at the Devil’s Thumb water storage tank located in the foothills southwest of Boulder. The water storage tank had been coated with lead based paint, which was subsequently sand blasted off the tank as part of repainting efforts. No provisions for containing or collecting the paint chips occurred during this process. As a result, the soil surrounding the tank contained total lead levels as high as 7,370 mg/Kg.
